Occupational Therapist Services

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) is a health profession dedicated to helping individuals of all ages develop, improve, or recover the skills necessary for daily living and working. Occupational therapists collaborate with people facing physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges that impact their ability to engage in everyday activities.

The primary objective of occupational therapy is to empower individuals to participate in meaningful and purposeful activities, known as “occupations.” These activities encompass a wide range, including self-care tasks (such as dressing, bathing, and eating), work-related activities, and leisure pursuits.

Do You Need A Comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?

Functional Capacity Assessments

What is an FCA?

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a thorough evaluation conducted to assess an individual’s ability to perform various daily activities and tasks. This comprehensive assessment involves a detailed analysis of physical, cognitive, and emotional capacities, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of a person’s overall functional abilities. The process typically includes an examination of fine and gross motor skills, cognitive functions such as memory and problem-solving, self-care abilities, and social engagement. The assessment may also delve into specific areas relevant to an individual’s unique circumstances, such as falls prevention strategies and visual perception. By examining these facets, a Functional Capacity Assessment provides valuable insights into an individual’s capabilities, helping to tailor support and interventions to enhance their overall quality of life and independence.

What goes into our FCA's

Our Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) are comprehensive, spanning between 20 to 30 pages due to the breadth of information covered. Given the depth of the assessment, it is typically conducted over two consultations. During the initial session, non-standardized assessments take place, featuring an in-depth interview to discuss goals and observe functional capacity across various domains. In the second consultation, standardized assessments are employed, aligning with NDIA standards to add substantial weight to the overall report. This meticulous two-step process ensures a thorough understanding of an individual’s capabilities, contributing to a robust and insightful assessment report.
